Head of Commercial Property
Paul Harris took over management of The Law Practice in 2013 and has been the driving force behind it ever since.
Paul strives to achieve innovative solutions to his clients’ legal issues. His breadth of knowledge in all areas of Litigation and Commercial and Private Client stems from over 30 years’ experience in the following matters; Commercial Contract Litigation, Intellectual Property, Dispute Resolution, Property Litigation and High Net Worth Private Client Representation including representation before the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court and the European Court.
Nasar obtained a BSc in Mathematics & Business Management from Manchester University before finding his calling in law.
Nasar trained with a small, niche civil and commercial litigation practice and qualified in this area of law. He has handled cases within the Multi Track and Fast track in the civil courts and has experience of claims in the Technology and Construction Court. He has joined The Law Practice to expand and develop the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team.
Nasar advises on all aspects of Civil Litigation and Commercial Dispute Resolution. Areas of particular interest are Personal Injury where Nasar has achieved tens of thousands of pounds in settlement for his clients; and also Landlord & Tenant matters where he maintains close relations with letting agents. He is looking to undertake more claims relating to construction disputes from main or sub-contractors.
Nasar prides himself in his friendly and amenable attitude and his clients welcome his commercially focused and pragmatic advice.
Sanjeev Kalair trained at the Midlands based firm Foster Johnston Oldfield Solicitors under the supervision of David Johnston and Paul Harris. Sanjeev gained experience in both commercial and residential conveyancing as well as in commercial litigation. Upon qualifying in 2005 Sanjeev moved to a large local law firm specialising in residential conveyancing and dealt with many large property developers such as Barratt Homes and Persimmon Homes. After 12 months Sanjeev was heading his own team which started with 2 and ended with a team of 12. After 3 years Sanjeev established his own firm based in Birmingham City Centre.
In 2010 Sanjeev took a break from the Law to pursue his interest in Property Development until he was asked to join Paul Harris at The Law Practice (UK) Ltd. Sanjeev has built up an extensive knowledge of property related matters during his time as both a Solicitor and Property Developer and now takes a Management role within the firm.
Saskia joined The Law Practice in 2014. She has over 6 years experience in residential property law; successfully dealing with freehold and leasehold sales, purchases, transfers of equity, remortgages and title splits.
Saskia has a broad understanding of all the financial aspects of a transaction, including apportionment of rent and service charges, as well as paying Stamp Duty Land Tax.
She currently assists the Conveyancing Department with the various areas of residential and commercial property, including lease transactions.
Sue began working at The Law Practice in February 2015.
Having over 20 years’ valuable experience in all aspects of Conveyancing, Wills and non-contentious Probate matters, Sue is proficient when dealing with the complexities which can arise.
Sue is well-versed in raising enquiries, drafting and preparing search, mortgage and contract reports. She has experience in exchanging contracts and completing transactions.
Sue also possesses wide knowledge in winding up the estate and drafting wills. Sue is recognised for offering sound advice and providing clients with excellent service.
Nadira joined The Law Practice in 2014 as a paralegal having completed her LLB (Hons) Law Degree at the University of Birmingham and her Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at The College of Law.
Nadira has extensive experience in a wide range of conveyancing matters including unregistered properties, remortgages, transfers of equity, sale and purchase of both freehold and leasehold properties as well as dealing with auction properties.
She is also proficient in dealing with some of our commercial transactions and has completed many successful cases involving companies and land.
Nadira is also fluent speaking in Bengali.
Sarah joined the conveyancing department at The Law Practice in 2016.
She began her career in conveyancing at Johnston and Co in Walsall before moving to Cox McQueen Howard Tain in Aldridge.
Sarah has over 23 years’ experience, specialising in residential sale, purchase, remortgage and transfer of equity and is well known in the Walsall community among local estate agents, mortgage brokers and investor clients.
Maryam qualified as a Solicitor in 2002. She developed extensive knowledge on many legal and social issues affecting the community during her time with Walsall Citizens Advice Bureau. With over 7 years experience, she is well quipped in advising clients on various legal aspects.
Maryam specialises in all litigious aspects and also focuses on dispute resolutions for both individual and corporate organisations. Moreover, she deals with Landlord and Tenant issues and Family Law matters.
Maryam provides clients with holistic advice and aims to achieve the best possible solution to their problem.
Maryam is also fluent in Cantonese.
Ashley joined The Law Practice in May 2016 as a paralegal. He graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Master’s Degree in Law and is currently studying his Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Wolverhampton.
Ashley gained experience in a number of areas through work with Sandwell Citizens Advice Bureau. He has a keen interest in Consumer Right’s Law and is seeking to undertake more work in relation to Compulsory Purchase Orders.
On joining the practice, Ashley specialises in debt recovery mainly for finance company clients and assists the Civil Litigation and Commercial Dispute Resolution Department in all aspects of preparing a case for trial. This includes preparation of court bundles and attending hearings.
Prior to joining The Law Practice, she worked in a New Build team as a Conveyancing Administrator.
She went to De Montfort University to complete her LLB (Hons) Law, Human Rights and Social Justice and is currently studying part-time for the Legal Practice Course at The University of Law.
Zoe obtained a 2.1 LLB (Hons) Law Degree from Nottingham Trent University in 2012, before completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Law in Birmingham.
Prior to joining The Law Practice in March 2016, Zoe worked in an advisory Human Resources position where she gained a broad knowledge and experience in Employment Law.
Zoe joined The Law Practice as a paralegal in our Litigation department concentrating on Regulatory matters involving financial miss-selling to high net worth individuals. She is currently focusing on Litigation and Commercial matters whilst commencing her training contract.
Harj completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice after graduating from BPP Law School, achieving a 2:1 in LLB (Hons) in Law.
Prior to joining The Law Practice in 2015, Harj gained copious legal experience in areas of fraud and criminal defence. Amongst obtaining mini-pupillages, Harj maintained an interest in carrying out probono for the broader community. she also developed strong advocacy skills through independently representing claimants successfully before the Social Security First Tier Tribunal. She then went on to acquire experience in residential and commercial property law.
Harj is now a Trainee Solicitor and continues to strengthen both her legal knowledge and commercial awareness at The Law Practice; delivering a high level of service to her clients. She takes great pride in her attention to detail and is known to be diligent in her work.
Harj is also fluent in Punjabi.
Kiran obtained a 2.1 (Hons) LLB Law Degree from the University of Wolverhampton.
She then went on to complete her Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 2015.
Prior to joining The Law Practice, Kiran worked at a High Street law firm in Birmingham dealing with Conveyancing, Wills and Probate, and has experience in a wide range of conveyancing matters including sales, purchases and transfers of equity.
Natalie began working at The Law Practice in 2014. She is responsible for client money and makes all payments on behalf of our clients for their various legal matters.
Natalie has over 16 years’ experience in previous accounting roles and has undertaken all relevant training for the SRA Accounts Rules.
Business Development Director
Katie joined The Law Practice in 2016 in the role of Business Development Director to develop the productivity of our current offices, manage internal development using new systems and expand the brand with the opening of new offices.
Katie has a wealth of knowledge and experience in business management within solicitors firms and has also previously worked within sales for new build developments in Australia. Her expertise ranges from creating conveyancing opportunities by building relationships with refers to advising businesses on areas to target as well as projected work flow.
Lois is the newest family member of TLP joining in 2017.
Having grown up in Walsall Lois is familiar with the local community and brings a young hungry attitude to the Walsall conveyancing team. Her strengths lie in social media and communication so Lois’ roles include posting on our social media sites, organising news content for the website, supporting the conveyancing team by updating referrers and chasing all the firms estimates.
Head of Corporate Development
Gregory is a seasoned CEO and is one of the founder partners of Business Angels Finance International.
He has extensive experience in both establishing and successfully running SME’s and profitable development ventures in a number of countries including Africa, Australia and the United Kingdom. He has significant contacts in those markets as well as in the Russian Federation and Eastern Europe.
His professional expertise ranges across a number of sectors including investment fund management, financial services, valuation, investment securities, trade finance, franchising, manufacturing and real estate project development.
Gregory is incisive, dynamic and results driven and often able to structure a deal from an alternative and innovative perspective.
He is married with 3 children and is a keen sportsman.
Sandra joined The Law Practice in January 2017, and is based at our head office in Walsall.
Day duties include greeting visitors; taking and managing incoming phone calls as well as providing administration support when required.
Great Barr Birmingham
Bernard joined The Law Practice in November 2016 as a Director/ Solicitor specialising in the areas of Property and Private Client.
Bernard has, for many years, practised as Shepherds Solicitors in Great Barr and is experienced in commercial work, domestic property transactions together with a sound and practical knowledge of wills and probate, lasting powers of attorney and private client work generally.
As a well known member of the legal community in the Birmingham and West Midlands area, Bernard is currently President of the West Midland Association of Law Societies.
Bernard prides himself in his ability to create lasting relationships by placing listening to his clients and providing honest and straightforward advice as a priority.
Imran joined The Law Practice in August 2014, initially concentrating on debt recovery, after having worked in several law firms in the West Midlands, gaining valuable experience in personal injury, immigration and conveyancing matters.
Imran gained a BA from Oxford Brookes University in Marketing Management and worked in sales in the FMCG sector before completing his Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Wolverhampton. In 2012, Imran completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice and qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in 2016.
He currently specialises in all aspects of residential, commercial and niche conveyancing. He has also worked extensively in the personal injury sector negotiating favourable damages for his clients.
Imran is also fluent in Kashmiri, Pothwari and Punjabi.
Trevor Nathan has been in the legal profession for well over 45 years, during which time he has had experience in private practice, corporate life and in the public sector.
He started his career in the Inland Revenue, Estate Duty Office, where he was trained to deal with matters relating to Probate, Trusts and Wills, and was seconded to Inland Revenue headquarters to assist in drafting the Finance Act 1975, which introduced capital transfer tax, the predecessor of Inheritance Tax.
For most of his career, he was a partner, rising to managing partner and senior partner, in a Central London firm, based first in Chancery Lane and then in Kingsway and subsequently in the City, where he specialised in commercial property and company and commercial matters, as well as keeping up his servicing of private clients, dealing with Probate, Wills and Trusts. .
In 1990, following the revolutions in Eastern Europe, his firm was the first Western European Practice to open a representative office in Bucharest, Romania and for some years made monthly visits there. He also acted for the Russian Association Bankers in London and made visits to Russia and other former Soviet Republics. He was secretary of the British Romanian Legal Association and lectured widely in Romania on legal issues.
He left private practice for four years and became in-house group solicitor, company secretary and head of compliance, first for a Nasdaq quoted company in the fields of aviation, pharmaceutical and insurance and subsequently for its Lloyds Broker subsidiary.
On returning to private practice, he became Principal of a South West London firm of solicitors and then joined the Law Practice as consultant solicitor in 2014, establishing its London office, and specialising in Property and Company Matters and Wills, Probate and Trusts.
Gurdev Thind has been Trevor’s personal assistant for the past 12 years.
Gurdev was educated at St. Joseph’s Convent School for Girls in India where she obtained her Higher Secondary School Certificate, and obtained her B.SC Degree in India at M.H. College for Science and subsequently an M.A Degree in Economics.
Gurdev attended Hammersmith College to obtain her RSA typing qualifications and later passed her Office Administration examinations.
Gurdev has had a variety of Secretarial and book-keeping jobs, working for the Ealing Study Centre, Ealing Family Housing Association, Hounslow and Spelthorne Health Authority and Cranford Adult Education Centre.
Before joining Trevor, she worked first for Anderson Chartered Surveyors and then for Mackenzie Solicitors.
She now assists Trevor in all his work, having built up a close rapport with his clients.
Krishan is a Trainee Solicitor based at the London office of The Law Practice after joining the firm in April 2016. He graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2011 with an LLB (Hons) Law Degree. Following his graduation, Krishan completed the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP Law School in London.
Prior to obtaining his training contract at The Law Practice, Krishan worked within the financial services industry for three years where he gained extensive knowledge and experience of financial services legislation and regulation. He is well versed with the FCA Handbook and is experienced in dealing with high net worth clients and sophisticated investors.
Krishan’s innovative mind and maturity stands him in good stead to develop his legal career at The Law Practice. Krishan will be mainly focusing on Litigation, Regulatory and Commercial matters.
Ayondip graduated from University of Leicester in 2011 with a LLB (Hons) Degree in Law. Since then he has gone on to complete his Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Law in London.
Ayondip’s previous experience includes working in Premier Property Lawyers, one of the largest conveyancing firms in the UK. In addition he was employed as a Legal Intern at Ace European Bank which focused on the Commercial Insurance market and as a Regulatory Consultant at Rebus Investment Group, looking at financial mis-selling to high net worth individuals.
With Ayondip’s legal background and passion for helping people in need, he is well equipped to be a Trainee Solicitor at The Law Practice. Ayondip is based in the London office, where he will be focusing mainly on Property, Commercial and Litigation matters.
E. Richard Ludlow
Richard is a solicitor with more than 30 years of commercial and residential property experience. Starting his professional career he helped set up the one of the first computerised residential conveyancing teams back in the 80’s. For the last 20 years he has run his own Practice in Solihull and Stratford upon Avon focusing on commercial conveyancing services.
Richard has a wealth of experience in providing advice to small and medium sized developers acquiring industrial and residential sites, setting up developments and disposing of completed sites. He applies a clear thinking approach adopting a strategy that suits the potential development, whether an option agreement, overage arrangement or joint venture. Unlike most lawyers he prefers to leave the comfort of his desk and visit sites to gain first-hand knowledge of the development and any potential challenges or opportunities.
Richard also acts for commercial landlords and tenants, from individuals, to large investment companies and pension trustees, in granting and negotiating commercial leases and acquisitions.
